Steve, good question! I say, if it sounds good to YOU then use it. We study the old masters as a starting place, but it doesn't mean that we need to always stick with the way they did things. I created another topic on the main forum page where I encourage students to upload videos (can be just audio) of themselves playing so that they can get feedback from others.
